💬 Did you know?
Your survey is used by your designer, engineer, energy assessor and builder, making it one of the most important documents in the planning stage.
~
🤔 Why can't we just use Google Maps?
Google Maps can't show the precise levels, boundaries or features needed to design and build a home. A survey provides accurate measurements that everyone on your project relies on.
~
🤔 Does every block need one?
Yes. Even if your block looks flat, every site has unique levels and features that can affect the design and cost of your build.
~
🤔 What information does it show?
A survey may include:
- Property boundaries
- Existing buildings
- Ground levels (contours)
- Trees
- Fences
- Power poles
- Stormwater infrastructure
- Sewer locations
- Water meters
- Driveways
- Easements
~
🤔 How long does it take?
Most surveys are completed within 1–3 weeks, depending on the surveyor's availability and the complexity of the site.
~
🤔 Does a contour survey tell me what's underground?
No. It shows the shape and features of the land but doesn't tell you the soil conditions. That's why a soil test is also required.
